AMUSF Diploma

Horsehair and Hessian is an approved AMUSF (Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers)Training facility in Suffolk. We run the three year AMUSF Diploma, which can only be taught by Approved Facilities.

Each of the three years focuses on both traditional and modern upholstery techniques. The majority of the course is practical, with a element of theory essential to understand the furniture, materials and fabrics used within the industry.

Each stage is taught over one academic year, with one day a week in the Horsehair & Hessian workshop. This equates to a minimum of 215 hours tuition.

The three stages are independently assessed and certified. The AMUSF is currently the only accredited course within the sector. It is an ideal course for those wishing to pursue a career in the industry.
